Women Empowered is the official Gracie self-defense program for women based on the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Unlike most self-defense systems that rely heavily on strength, speed, and coordination, the techniques in the Women Empowered program employ leverage, technique, and timing, so anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, can make them work against larger opponents.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q:  Do I need to be athletic and coordinated to participate?

A: You do not need to be in athletic shape to participate. Jiu-jitsu is an art that is made to work with natural body movements. None of the techniques we teach will require any type of special training. We also encourage everyone to engage in participation at their comfort level. If anything feels uncomfortable, you are more than welcome to just watch.

Q: What do I wear to the seminar?

A: Wear comfortable workout attire. We recommend covering your shoulders and back for comfort and safety reasons. Because we practice so calmly and so cooperatively, you can wear your glasses during the techniques. We do ask that you remove watches and jewelry before the seminar.

Q: What will we actually be doing?

A: During the seminar you will learn and practice 5-6 techniques from the Women Empowered program that address some of the most common and dangerous threats facing women. True reflex development and muscle memory takes time; continued practice over a longer period of time. You will not walk away from this seminar with ninja reflexes. But will happen, is that because of the techniques and principles taught at the seminar, you will experience a complete paradigm shift when it comes to your thoughts about self-defense and what you are capable of in a self-defense situation.

Q: Do I have to pay for this seminar?

A: This seminar is free, but you do need to register as space is limited.

Q: If I enjoy the seminar and want to continue learning jiu-jitsu, can I do that?

A: Absolutely! We are a Certified Training Center through Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and we operate our school right here in Nappanee. While you can begin classes with us at any time of the year, we will be providing you with a one-time discounted offer only available at the seminar if you would like to continue to learn these valuable self-defense skills.
